Play Dominoes

Dominoes is a fun and quick game that you can play almost anywhere.  The fast nature of game play helps keeps people’s attention and it’s status as a “classic” means that the people with memory loss may remember it from their past.

How to Play

  • Place the dominoes facedown on the table and shuffle them until they’re random.  This is the draw pile.
  • Have each player take 7 dominoes to form their hand.
  • Pick one domino from the draw pile and place it face up in the middle of the table.
  • Each player takes a turn placing one of the dominoes from their hand next to the dominoes on the table, with like numbers touching. If you lay a double (a domino with the same number on both ends), place it so it forms a “T” shape on the board. Play can continue from any of the exposed ends.
  • If you don’t have a domino that corresponds to the ones on the layout, take one from the draw pile.
  • The first person to get rid of all the dominoes in their hand wins!

To make it easier, try playing with fewer dominos, have each player lay their hands on the table to others can help,  or play in teams.
